DRAGIN Drilling features a custom-designed, one-of-a-kind, high-torque drill rig. The CME High-Torque 95 drill rig was designed specifically for DRAGIN Drilling and is the only one of its kind in the United States! The rig was re-designed to tackle deeper and larger diameter auger drilling projects.
The primary modification made to the standard CME-95 was to increase the rotary torque and retract force approximately thirty percent. Applications include deep auger drilling (up to depths of 350 feet using 4.25-inch hollow-stem augers) for the delineation of deep contaminate plumes and investigation of new water supplies. This feature has been of particular importance for the ongoing remediation work at the Massachusetts Military Reservation on Cape Cod.
The second modification was the
re-designing of the upright frame. The
new design allows for the use of a
24-inch O.D. hollow-stem auger.
Applications for this feature and
specialty 24-inch augers include landfill
gas vent and large diameter recovery
well installations. This truck-mounted
unit has reached depths of one hundred
feet with the 24-inch augers at a local
landfill without encountering
complications due to leachate or wall
sloughing, something a conventional bucket rig has difficulties accomplishing
even with up to 40% more time spent on the job.
DRAGIN Drilling continues to be the sole provider of this 24-inch auger drilling service. |
