Together the DRAGIN Drilling design team and our research and development company produced the first string of true 24-inch O.D. hollow-stem augers. And like DRAGIN Drilling's rigs, these are not your typical augers - they are what we call an Abrasion Auger. Applications for this specialty equipment include:

· Landfill gas vent well installations
· Large diameter recovery well installations
· Dewatering well installation

The use of a hollow-stem auger versus the "old-school" bucket rig method provides several advantages for today's more challenging projects.

· For landfill gas vent well
installations, the abrasion factor
eliminates borehole smearing and
enhances gas production. The auger
factor eliminates leachate or heave
problems, allows the well to be
installed through the augers and
optimizes the uniformity and
placement of the gravel pack. The
end result is a more efficient vent well.

· For any large diameter well installation (recovery well or dewatering well),
the auger acts as casing, stabilizing the borehole and eliminating collapse and/or sloughing. The well is then able to be installed through the augers optimizing the uniformity and placement of the gravel pack.
