Working Woman Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards

Wareham, MA- Carrie Collins, resident and President/CEO of DRAGIN Drilling, a specialty environmental drilling company, has been honored as a Regional Finalist in the Original Services/Products category of the Working Woman Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards 2001.

The award celebrates the accomplishments of women business owners. DRAGIN Drilling was chosen from among 500 candidates to be recognized at the regional awards ceremony dinner held in New York City. The magazine honored the women entrepreneurs for their contribution to the fastest growing segments of the U.S. economy and for providing a diverse spectrum of products and services that are in great demand. The winners were highlighted in the May issue of Working Woman Magazine.

Unique Equipment; Unique Methods

DRAGIN Drilling was recognized for its unique equipment and services, including a
one-of-a-kind high-torque auger rig which enables the company to be the exclusive
provider of auger drilling to depths of more than 350 feet (average drilling depths are
150 feet). Additionally, the company's design team produced the first string of 24-inch
outside-diameter augers. The augers were primarily designed to create a new
method for the drilling and installation of gas vent wells.

DRAGIN Drilling also designed and developed a Multi-Media Straddle Sampling System
(patent pending) which allows for the collection of discrete environmental water and
soil samples from a single borehole (previously two boreholes had to be drilled to
obtain both soil and water samples). This revolutionary sampling approach, combined
with DRAGIN Drilling's unique high-torque auger rigs, provides a more cost effective
and efficient investigation methods for their government and consultant clientele.

Collins, a graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, co-founded DRAGIN Drilling in 1996 with business partner David Quagliaroli. Collins, a native of South Hadley, MA, and Quagliaroli, a native of Turners Falls, MA, started the company in order to provide state-of-the-art drilling equipment and innovative drilling and sampling solutions. Quagliaroli is a certified well driller and Vice President of DRAGIN Drilling.

"I am honored to receive this recognition from such a renowned woman's business magazine.
It was exciting to participate in this grand event with women from around the country who
have similar experiences starting and running their own companies," said Collins. "When
we established DRAGIN Drilling four years ago, I knew we filled a niche in the market,
but I could never have imagined how quickly we would grow and how successful
we would become."
